4 Tips Men Need for Healthier Skin

September 2, 2019 by Samantha Smith

September is Healthy Ageing Month, and it’s important that we don’t leave men, or their skin, out of the conversation. As you get older, it’s essential that you take care of your skin as much as you do the rest of your body. Although basic skincare applies to everyone, it’s difficult for men to find resources that are dedicated just for them. Here are four tips we’ve put together to help keep your skin looking young and healthy.

Start On The Inside

Your skin is heavily affected by your internal health. Your skin needs plenty of water and nutrients from your diet in order to stay clear and supple. Try to drink about eight glasses of water a day, and pack your diet with skin-boosting foods like broccoli, walnuts, avocados, bell peppers, and salmon. Also, look into including an acne-fighting skin supplement into your diet if that’s an issue you’re dealing with. Products like help: clear skin MEN are great for reducing acne-causing bacteria, leaving you with beautifully clear skin.

Your skin is constantly regenerating, which leads to a buildup of dead skin cells blocking your pores. Use an exfoliator that gently scrubs the dirt and debris off of your face to help your skin breathe. Try to find an exfoliating cream that has jojoba beads because these products are more gentle on the skin than products that contain plastic beads, and they’re better for the environment. You don’t need to exfoliate every day, as this could damage the healthy skin cells that you are trying to take care of.

Change Your Razors Often

We’ve all been guilty of using a razor way longer than we should be. But shaving with a dirty, old razor spreads bacteria and leads to you cutting and damaging your skin. It’s recommended that you switch out your razors after six to eight shaves. If you think you’ll have trouble remembering, consider enrolling in a subscription service like Harry’s that delivers new razors and shaving tools to you when you need them.

If you truly want healthy skin, then you have to find ways to destress. Stress can greatly impact your skin by making you look older, giving you wrinkles and contributing to acne. Finding relaxing activities is one of the best ways to prevent your skin from ageing in the first place. Ageing is inevitable, but as long as you’re looking after your skin you have nothing to worry about.
