Today is World Psoriasis Day, an annual day dedicated to those with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. Created by patients for patients, this is a worldwide event that provides help, guidance and new resources for those living with psoriasis — as well as support for funding and further research.

There are lots of events going on today, from Facebook meetups to fun runs and rallies. But as well as raising money and awareness, the day also presents people with psoriasis or those interested in research into the skin condition,  a chance to discuss products, treatments and lifestyle changes that can help to alleviate symptoms.

At Works With Water, we’re very interested in the emerging science on ingredients that are being linked to potentially alleviating the symptoms of psoriasis.

Last year we began research into how lactoferrin from milk proteins appears to have a positive effect on the symptoms of some of those who suffer from both psoriasis and eczema.

We are conducting consumer trials into how daily consumption of lactoferrin can potentially alleviate the symptoms of eczema and psoriasis. This research is on-going and we expect to be able to share results of these trials in Spring of 2016.

help: clear skin & help: clear skin MEN packs

help: clear skin and help: clear skin MEN are formulated to alleviate acne symptoms by reducing bacteria and inflammation. Both products contain PravENAC™, a patented formula rich in lactoferrin from  milk protein.  Lactoferrin has been identified as a potential benefit to psoriasis sufferers and is also currently being trialled in an in-depth study by the Griffith University in Australia.

This latest study is interesting and reinforces the anecdotal reports we receive from people taking our help: clear skin products over a long period of time who are unfortunate enough to suffer from both acne and psoriasis or eczema.

This is encouraging news for psoriasis and eczema sufferers to learn that ingredients such as lactoferrin are not only effective in dealing with acne, but can also help to reduce inflammation and itching that’s often associated with psoriasis.
