Using too many topical acne products could result in more skin breakouts

February 28, 2014 by Works with Water

Everyone wants their acne to clear up quickly, so you may be tempted to slather on your acne treatment products several times (or more) per day. Over-using topical medications can’t hurt, right? Besides, won’t your acne clear up faster if you apply your medications more often?

You may be surprised to learn that applying too much of your acne products, or applying topical acne treatments too often, won’t clear those skin blemishes up any faster. But because acne medication contains drying agents like benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid, using too much medication will most definitely cause excessive drying, redness, peeling, leading to irritation and more blemishes.

The long and short of it is that you need to be patient with any acne treatment – they do not work over night and may take several weeks to see a change, but won’t it be worth the wait?

If you want to try an acne treatment that won’t dry out your skin, and is clinically proven to fight acne bacteria (P. acnes), then help: clear skin is what you are looking for to complete your acne skincare routine.

All you need to do is mix 1 sachet a day into your favourite beverage or soft food (hot or cold) and within 4-6 weeks you should see your skin start to clear. Plus the beauty of help: clear skin is that you are treating your skin from the inside (getting right to the source of the problem), therefore you aren’t causing more irritation by aggrivating your skin on the outside.
