Given that there is a clear connection between stress and acne, one of the simplest procedures to clear stress-induced acne is stress management.

Stress management not only helps you with stress acne, it can also alleviate your overall stress levels so you can better face your everyday challenges.

Although you can’t live a completely stress-free life, there are ways you can reduce your stress levels.

How to avoid stress in general

  • Recognize your stressors. When you know what causes you to feel stressed, you will be able to manage it well.
  • When you feel stress start, relax. Take three deep breaths or take a walk to take your mind off the feeling of stress.
  • Tense and release your muscles. This is an immediate relaxing exercise when you feel sudden onset of stress
  • Learn to laugh at yourself. The act of laughing helps your body fight stress in a number of ways

You can reduce stress in your life by nurturing yourself. If you regularly make time for fun and relaxation, you’ll be in a better place to handle life’s stressors when they inevitably come.

  • Set aside relaxation time. Include rest and relaxation in your daily schedule. Don’t allow other obligations to encroach. This is your time to take a break from all responsibilities and recharge your batteries.
  • Connect with others. Spend time with positive people who enhance your life. A strong support system will buffer you from the negative effects of stress.
  • Do something you enjoy every day. Make time for leisure activities that bring you joy, whether it be stargazing, playing the piano, or working on your bike.
  • Engage in stress-reducing activities such as meditation, yoga, taking bubble baths, walking in the park, or just relaxing at home after a hectic week.

Since everyone has a unique response to stress, there is no “one size fits all” solution to managing it.

No single method works for everyone or in every situation, so experiment with different techniques and strategies. Focus on what makes you feel calm and in control.

And remember a stress free life helps you to reduce acne flare ups – that has got to be a good incentive to relax!
