We’re back sharing out thoughts on all things related to health, nutrition, skin and beauty and what better topic to start with this month than the bathroom habits and grooming regimes of the male of our species.
A recent interactive poll for the Grocer magazine has revealed that 42% of men regularly go more than a day without taking a bath or shower with 16-24 year-olds the second most likely after the over 65’s to bathe only every two days.
Surprised? Possibly not; particularly if you’re among the 1% of women who apparently bathe or shower less than once a week.
For those of us who love their daily invigorating shower, the results of this poll seem questionable. However, we can take the concept of cleanliness to an extreme.
At Works with Water Nutraceuticals we receive many emails from people suffering from spots and acne asking if they can join our help: clear skin case study groups. As they share their skin problems, many of them point out that they are scrupulous with their skincare, washing regularly and often obsessively and using facial scrubs and skin toners in an attempt to improve their acne skin condition.
And that’s where trying to be too clean only exacerbates an existing skin problem. Unfortunately, if you suffer from acne or spot-prone oily skin, the more aggressive you cleanse the more your skin fights back in an effort to retain the skin balance…by making your skin even oilier and encouraging the growth of acne bacteria. So yes, cleanse and bathe daily but be gentle when using soaps, cleansers and moisturisers.
If you’re one of the 10 million people suffering from acne in the UK looking for a gentle, natural acne solution, please take a look at our case studies.
