How to pamper your skin for Valentine’s Day

Valentine's Day skin preparation

It feels like it was only a few days ago that we were all recovering from too much turkey on Christmas Day, but quicker than you can say “I love roses” Valentine’s Day has come around again. Well, we know that on February the 14th with meal planning, card buying and gift getting you might often find you forget to pay attention to the one thing that matters the most: you.

Although the cheesy celebration might be all about showing your love for someone else, the truth is if you don’t feel happy, calm and well-looked after within, then you’re not going to be able to dedicate proper love to someone else – or at the very least enjoy your romantic Valentine’s meal!

Feeling good about yourself and the genuine person you are inside can actually start with how you look on the outside, and how that makes you feel. So we’ve collected together some of our top tips for giving your appearance a bit of an oomph and pampering your body and your skin before the big day:

Take long and luxurious baths

Many people rush in and out of the shower in the morning or on an evening and never take advantage of how a long, warm and luxurious bath can make them look and feel. Try running a bath next time you want to look and feel good. To make the process into a feel good ritual, we recommend you begin by breathing in deeply, which will allow the steam to fill your lungs, getting rid of any toxins from the day, and clear out your pores, leaving them clean so acne is less likely to form and your face is less likely to look grey and tired.

Light some candles and turn the lights low to set the mood. Many people also swear by certain bath salts and bubbles, but don’t overdo them, they can lead to skin irritation and redness if you throw a bit too much in!

Not only will your new bathing ritual clear your pores, your lungs and your mind, but it’ll also leave your skin looking fresher and more rejuvenated, too.

Eat well and drink lots of water

You’ll want to indulge a little when you eat out (or in if you’re a keen cook) on Valentine’s Day, so to ensure your romantic meal is guilt-free, try loading up on fruits and vegetables over the next few days and drinking lots of water. This will ensure you feel full of energy for the weekend and the added vitamins and minerals will mean your skin can heal itself from the inside and will look clearer and more glowing by the time you need to get ready on Saturday.

Pamper yourself

Treat yourself to a natural beauty treatment this week, whether it’s a facial or a manicure. Even if you can’t keep up these kind of beauty treatments regularly, a one-off will ensure you feel well taken care of. We recommend picking the bit of your body that needs the most work – maybe your head feels tense and you need a massage, or the skin on your feet is really dry and you need a pedicure – it doesn’t matter what it is, just book an appointment and most importantly of all, enjoy it, don’t feel stressed or guilty about it.

Perfect a skincare routine for the future

In the run-up to a big event, we recommend you start thinking about yourskin health as early as possible. Our top-selling product, help: clear skin can dramatically improve the quality of your skin and reduce acne, whiteheads, blackheads and skin reddening after just a few weeks of daily consumption, but you’ll see the biggest benefits after about three months. So you’re prepared for future events that are special and require you to look and feel at your best, we recommend ensuring your beauty regime includes help: clear skin, a healthy lifestyle and plenty of sleep!
