Get your skin ready for the beach in 3 easy steps

May 29, 2015 by Works with Water

Forget about the beach body ready controversy, if you’re keen to make your way to the beach this summer, then all you need to do is feel comfortable in your own skin. You don’t have to change your appearance, make drastic alterations to who you are and how you look or act differently.

Here at Works With Water we’re all about inner confidence shining out and using natural ingredients to make a big difference. So, we’ve collected together some of our top tips for ensuring you feel ready for the summer by eating well, drinking lots of water and choosing the right, natural supplements to suit you.

1. Eat well: keep your skin cells nourished

Your diet doesn’t just affect your weight, it can have a huge impact on your skin, too. If you’re keen to look and feel your best this summer, we recommend swapping out foods with a lot of processed sugar and fat for more leafy green vegetables, fruit and lean meat.

The key is to give your body all of the nutrients it needs to get rid of dead skin cells, regenerate while you sleep and keep you looking youthful and fresh, whether you’re spending summer in a city or on the beach.

2. Drink lots of water: keep your skin cells hydrated

Heat, sun and alcohol are all factors that could weaken the lipid layer on the surface of your skin, leaving your skin cells more susceptible to bacteria, but also leaving the surface dry and weakened. This is what leads to dry patches and more wrinkles. The answer? Drinking plenty of water and keeping your body as hydrated as possible without relying too heavily on heavy creams.

Take a look at one of our past posts all about the benefits of drinking water to clear your skin and what that extra hydration really does for the delicate cells in your skin.

3. Choose natural supplements: get rid of heavy creams

In our post last month about keeping your skin acne-free throughout the summer months, we suggested that you mix up your skincare routine as the weather gets warmer, especially while you’re away on holiday.

Many topical products, like acne and anti-ageing creams, can feel so greasy and heavy when the temperatures soar that it’s a good idea to replace these kinds of treatments with supplements instead, which are easier to take, won’t weight you down and could even be more effective as they’re addressing problems from the inside out.

Our products help: clear skin and help: beautify skin are aimed at two different (or maybe the same!) types of people, those that want to clear up acne and those that want to get rid of wrinkles. Choosing a supplement over a cream or treatment may seem strange to you, but when you’re on holiday and you have less time for lengthy routines and less patience for thick creams it’s definitely worth trying something different.
